Bean-to-cup journey
The function of a bean-to-cup machine is just as the name suggests: literally delivering coffee straight from freshly ground beans into your cup. PrimaDonna Avant does this in seconds, and yet the coffee is as good and as fresh as any you'll buy in a coffee bar. After pressing one button to select ‘espresso'; the bean-to-cup journey starts at the integral coffee bean grinder. PrimaDonna Avant has an adjustable professional conical burr grinder to expertly grind the beans to any coarseness.
The ground coffee is then packed tightly and the internal brewing unit pushes hot water through the coffee at professional 15 bar pressure. The espresso is then delivered straight into your cup, the whole process taking just seconds. The hallmark of a perfect espresso is recognised by the ‘crema' - a creamy layer that sits on top of the espresso to seal in the temperature and flavour. The thicker the crema, the better the espresso and the quality of the machine that produced it.
Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato and Caffelatte
This machine features four separate coffee buttons for maximum ease of use, including a dedicated milk button. Cappuccinos, latte macchiatos, caffelattes and long coffee are made just as easily. The innovative patented milk carafe plugs straight into the machine and expertly froths fresh milk for you. This is a real benefit, as many people find conventional cappuccino steam pipes tricky to use and it takes real practice to get perfect froth using a standard manual pipe and jug. PrimaDonna Avant's milk carafe does this for you and could not be easier to use. Simply fill with fresh cold milk (semi-skimmed or skimmed works best) and slot the carafe into the front of the machine. Next, press the cappuccino, latte macchiato or caffelatte button on the control panel. The cold milk is drawn up into the carafe lid via a thick straw and, at the same time, hot steam is pumped through the lid from a dedicated boiler inside the PrimaDonna Avant. The hot frothy milk is then immediately dispensed into your cup via a stainless steel tube, and a freshly made espresso is delivered into the cup immediately after. Due to the advanced dual boiler (thermoblaock), for the perfect espresso - whether for one or two cups, it will always be the same perfect temperature. The machine also uses a separate element for steam production to create delicious froth for cappuccinos, caffelattes or latte machiatto.
The milk carafe can also be easily cleaned. Simply press the ‘clean' button located next to the carafe handle and hot steam is pushed through the lid and stainless steel tube to flush out any milk residue and to sterilise it. The carafe can then be detached from the PrimaDonna Avant and stored in the fridge with any remaining milk inside until you need to use it again.
A real advantage to the carafe system is that the milk always remains cold – essential to proper milk froth - and never gets inside the main body of the PrimaDonna Avant.
